LED TV
The term LED TV (Light-emitting diode television) is used by Samsung and other major consumer TV companies to describe their ranges of LCD (liquid crystal display) TVs that use LED backlighting. The term LED TV is sometimes disputed the reason being that the display of LED TV's is not 100% LED therefore should not be called LED TV.
LED TV's in their present state are much too large to be single individual pixels on a conventional TV, so the use of a real LED TV display is is usually reserved for much larger screens for example in sports grounds and other such locations.
An LED backlit LCD TV does differ from a conventional LCD TV in the following important areas:
* An LED TV consume's much less power around 40% less compared to an LCD TV.
* An LED TV can offer wider colour especially when RGB-LED backlighting is used.
* An LED TV can produce very bright images with greater contrast and deeper blacks.
* An LED TV has Edge-LED lighting meaning they can be extremely slimline with current Samsung models being just over 1 inch thick.
